The Lapland Trip

The trip to Lapland is a higly appreciated experience for the exchange students in Örebro. Northern Sweden offers a very different kind of environment for many people. This part of Sweden is not very populated and therefore gets you closer to nature. The surroundings are just amazing and the concept of the trip is to offer a memorable visit in a remote part of the world.

ESN Örebro tries to arrange this trip at least once every semester. Normally we go there by train which takes some 22 hours or more. This might seem as much but since we are travelling in a bigger group this part of the trip is also enjoyable. Then we will of course visit the world famous Ice Hotel where you get a chance to see one of the most peculiar places to spend a night or even to get married. Every year artists come from all over the world to help building and decorating this Hotel made entirely of natural ICE! You will also have the opportunity to have a drink in the Absolut Icebar and of course to take a lot of photos!

The Ice Hotel is the very first thing we do and later the same afternoon we continue to Björkliden which is right in the middle of Abisko National park, 250 kilometers north of the arctic circle and home of some truly beautiful areas. The second day will be spent dog-sledging and cave-walking. The group is split in half for the activities and altered after lunch. In the evening dinner will be served at the hostel. In the evenings there are opportunities to look for Northern lights and just hang out with the group.

The last day is spent on optional activities. You can chose from doing an ice wall climb, snowshoe walk, skiing or just doing your own thing!

So if you want to experience something really different and somewhat adventurous you should definitely join us to Lapland with its breath-taking views, ice, snow, northern lights and closeness to nature. A trip to be shared with others and cherished in your heart ans soul for a long time.
